Common finish choices
Common finishes include anodizing, sandblasting, polishing, passivation, plating, black oxide, brushing and simple deburring. The right choice depends on appearance, corrosion resistance, wear, conductivity and assembly function.
Finish allowance
Some finishes change dimensions slightly or require surface preparation. If a surface is critical after finishing, mark the final requirement clearly and explain whether the tolerance applies before or after finish.
Cosmetic requirements
Visible surfaces, color consistency, scratch control and packaging requirements can increase handling time. If appearance matters, provide reference photos or mark cosmetic surfaces on the drawing.
Cost control tips
Separate functional surfaces from cosmetic areas, avoid unnecessary polishing, confirm acceptable color variation and specify only the finishes that the application truly needs.
